We took on the toilets on 1 July 2024!
Thanks to our dedicated volunteer management team and the 'Loo Crew', we now open, check and close the toilets 7 days a week.
They are cleaned by professional cleaners to keep them looking spic and span.
Thank you
BRDT is delighted with the community response to saving the toilets from closure. The survey results painted a compelling picture of how vital they are to our town. Our local councillors and MSPs fought our corner and our community groups BARBA and BEPTA supported us from the beginning. Perth & Kinross have done their best to ensure we have continuous use during the transfer.
We thank you for your donations, annual sponsorships and for the volunteers who have stepped up to work with BRDT to run the public toilets for our community. Castle Water Ltd, Graham Fire Services, Pest Control and Hygiene Services and Stagecoach have made notable contributions of sponsorhip and have inspired others.
Thank you all!
Next Phase
While working with the community to determine the fate of our public toilets it became clear that the toilet facility could offer more than what is there now.
The mens toilet relocates to the first floor dividing the space into mens and ladies. The ground floor has a new accessible toilet opening into the secured space safe from vandalism with a separate shower facility and visitor information centre
The facade of the building will get cleaned up with a new glazed front and a new entrance and turnstile with both cash and contactless payment technology.
We have prepared some very preliminary drawings to illustrate the possibilities.
We will prepare a feasibility study, appoint an architect and make applications for funding. If we are successful in obtaining funding for the project and planning approval is granted then we can move forward to create a new destination and toilet facilities fit for the 21st century.
We will keep you updated on progress of getting it off the ground.
