Common Lizard
Info - The Common Lizard is one of 3 lizard species native to the UK. They are cold blooded and will often be spotted basking on rocks during the warmer months; so be sure to slow down and glance over some boulders next time you are out walking! Their diets consist of a variety of insects such as spiders, flies and small snails which they will hunt during the day using their sight and sense of smell.
When and where to see - They are found in grassland, heathland, moorland, wooded areas and sometimes gardens. They are active April - September. October - March they are in hibernation.
Fact - Common Lizards do not lay eggs, they give birth to live young instead and can have up to 10 at a time.
