Marsh Orchid
Info - Marsh orchid is a higher classification term given to around 12 native species of marsh and spotted orchid found in the UK, with most being fairly common whilst others are quite rare. Some varieties thrive well in wetter soil and others in much drier climates, once fully established they are able to reproduce from seed. Their nectar is a favoured food source for many of our pollinators and will attract bees, moths and butterflies.
When and where to see - May - July amongst grasslands in various locations like open fields, and road verges.
Fact - Marsh orchids have been used throughout history in a variety of different ways for medicines and perfumes.
