Volunteer Walk Leader -
Description of Role - Leading walks acoss a variety of locations throughtout Perth and Kinross. Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Our walking group encourages clients to improve confidence and self-esteem, becoming more socially connected and enhancing their journey of recover. As a volunteer walk leader you will be knowledgeable about the benefits of walking and enjoy motivating people of all backgrounds, while being part of a team developing good relationships with our clients and contributing to their health and wellbeing, supporting them to improve their quality of life.You will identify, develop and risk assess walks in and around Perth & Kinross, supervise clients participating and encourage others to take part.
Skills required - Knowledgeable about the benefits of walking, be physically fit for your age and have a good sense of humour. You will be a good motivator and listener able to build good relationships with clients. A First Aid certificate and Paths For All Walk Leader creditation would be advantageous but training can be provided. Good local knowledge would be beneficial.
Joinery Woodwork Assistant -
Description of Role - Wisecraft provides joinery and woodworking activities for our clients to support their journey of recovery. At the Wisecraft Joinery Workshop, supported by staff and volunteers, our clients create and repair furniture, garden pieces and small craft items. The activity provides a foundation for our clients to build self-confidence and to gain skills which may support their recovery and possibly lead to employment. We have an exciting opportunity available for a Woodwork Assistant to join our team and help our clients. You will develop good relationships with clients, and provide support and guidance in the use of tools and equipment, under the direction of the joinery supervisor. It is desirable that you will have some DIY, woodwork and/or joinery skills. we ask for a minimum of 3 hours per week.
Skills required - The role would require you to be a good listener with a pleasant personality and good sense of humour. You will be non judgemental, be able to provide support and encouragement and work well as part of a team. Knowlege of any aspect of joinery or woodwork is desireable but we can also provide some training.
Creative Wellbeing Assistant -
Description of Role - Our clients are at the heart of everything we do. Arts and Crafts activities such as artwork, handmade cards, jewellery, knitting, sewing, etc, are provided in a supported environment to help improve confidence and self-esteem, working with each individual towards their recovery. Our arts and crafts area is a very social space, and you will build trusting relationships with clients making them feel involved and engaged. As part of the team you will assist in the preparation of activities, inspiring clients to get involved. You will also assist the team in maintaining the workspace and materials used.
Skills required - The role would require you to be a good listener with a pleasant personality and good sense of humour. You will be non-judgemental, be able to provide support and encouragement and work well as part of a team. Although knowledge of arts and crafts and other creative art activities would be beneficial, it is not required as some training can be provided.
Volunteer Driver -
Description of Role - We encourage and support our clients to become more involved in their local communities, providing excursions and visits to interesting places. As a volunteer driver with our team you would drive our minibus, transporting clients between Blairgowrie and Perth for them to participate in activities across our services localities. You would also drive, clients staff and volunteers to activities and/or excursions. Our clients also produce a range of products such as arts & crafts items, furniture and garden pieces which are for sale. You would drive to uplift materials and donations for our clients to work with and deliver sales products to customers or events. Also occasionally supporting skip runs between Perth and Blairgowrie would be beneficial. A panel goods van is used for this purpose.
Skills required - You will have a driving licence with a D1 enablement. You will also have a pleasant personality and good sense of humour. The role would require you to be flexible, adaptable with an understanding of equalities issues. There may be some moderately heavy lifting ( picnic tables, wooden benches) and therefore you will need a reasonable level of fitness.

Overview
Based across two service locations, The Walled Garden in Perth and Wisecraft Blairgowrie is an activity-based service for adults (aged 16+) who experience a wide variety of mental health and wellbeing difficulties. We provide meaningful and therapeutic activities; Creative Wellbeing (music, crafts, drama and creative writing), Woodwork, Exercise, Gardening and Catering, for clients to engage in. These activities help clients build structure and routine into their daily lives, while also improving mood, increasing confidence and enhancing social connections.
Wisecraft Blairgowrie Weekly Timetable:
Joinery Sessions: Monday - Wednesday
Morning sessions 9.30-12pm
Afternoon sessions 1- 3.30pm
Creative Sessions: Tuesday+Thursday. Following a creative programme that consists of arts and crafts, creative writing, performance and music sessions.
Morning sessions 9.30-12pm
Afternoon sessions 1- 3.30pm
Healthy Lifestyles Sessions:
Group Walks- Wednesday 10.30am & 2pm
Yoga / Movement sessions - Tuesdays 11.30am (45mins) at St Catherines hall (£1.50)
If you or someone you know are interested in becoming a client, we accept self-referrals and referrals from other agencies and assess these on a case-by-case basis.
